A $35,000 Scholarship Open to ALL High School Students - No Minimum GPA!

The $35,000 VFW Voice of Democracy Contest is one of our favorite scholarships. In fact, to date, over 50% of Scholarship GPS students who apply for this scholarship have earned monetary prizes!
This program is open to all high school students, with no minimum GPA requirement.
Established in 1947, the Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay.
Eligibility:
Open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public, private, parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Although U.S. citizenship is not required, students must be lawful U.S. permanent residents or have applied for permanent residence (the application for which has not been denied) and intend to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law. Foreign exchange students, students age 20 or over, GED or Adult Education Students are ineligible.
Application Requirements:
Find your local VFW Post to verify they participate in the Voice of Democracy Contest and how that Post accepts entries
Fill out the Entry Form
Record your original 3-5 minute (+ or – 5 seconds max.) audio
Essay that responds to the prompt: “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?”
You will need to write your original essay and record yourself reading it. Both the written essay and your recording will be submitted to your local participating VFW Post.
Entry Deadline: October 31
