A Major Scholarship Website Shut Down! What You Should Do.

The scholarship website GoingMerry has announced that it is shutting down. So, what does this mean for you, as someone looking for scholarships?

First, this is a good reminder of why, in any endeavor, including searching for scholarships, we don't put all of our eggs in one basket. Those who were relying solely on GoingMerry to find scholarships just lost their only means of finding them.

However, even if your favorite scholarship website is still in operation, you are limiting the number of scholarships you are finding if you are only using one website. That is why I recommend that students set up profiles on multiple scholarship websites. The larger the pool of possible scholarships, the better your chances of finding the best ones to apply for. You can get my list of recommended scholarship websites for free here.

As you are checking out more scholarship websites, one that I especially want to recommend is Scholarships360. Here's why:

"I won the scholarship! The scholarship committee was wonderful to speak with, and we connected on personal and professional levels... your guidance has helped me have presence to get to the next level, as they said part of the reason I was initially [selected] was due to my active presence on Scholarships360..."

This is from an email I got from one of the students I work with. In addition to housing a database of more than 5000 scholarships, Scholarships360 offers numerous exclusive scholarships that you won't find anywhere else. Some of their exclusive scholarships include ones for college students, high school seniors, high school juniors, community college students, transfer students, STEM students, state-exclusive scholarships for students in Texas, Florida, and Illinois, and even scholarships open to all grade levels.

The more active a student is on Scholarships360, the more "weight" they give to students who apply for their exclusive scholarships. As you can see from the email from my student, that strategy paid off! The judges told her that one of the reasons she was selected was due to her "active presence on Scholarships360."

So, be sure to set up profiles on most or all of my recommended scholarship websites. And, get active on Scholarships360!
